Iodine in Seaweed May Help Benign Breast Disease

A Pennsylvania doctor, who noticed that low iodine areas in the US have high rates of breast cancer, prescribed iodine for 588 women with painful, lumpy breast, indicating a higher long term risk of breast cancer.
Over a year, 9 out of 10 women had good to excellent results, and 43% felt complete relief from their symptoms.

Caution: Large amount of  iodine eaten long term, for example more than 1,000 mcg a day - may interfere with thyroid function.

High in sodium, seaweed is best eaten as a flavoring, not in large amount.

Flaxseeds

Whether in the form of flaxseed oil or flaxseeds, add flax to your diet slowly - too much, too fast can give you gas if you are not used to it. It lowers blood pressure, risk of stroke, fights arthritis, heart disease, diabetes, stomach disorders, and even mental problems. It also protects against cancers of the breast, colon, and prostate.
